We work with wool people who really know their stuff. I have said this before but it is truer than ever, producing yarn, especially on a smaller scale, is not for the weak of heart. We do it because we love it. Our latest batch of wool, our Wisconsin Woolen Spun Worsted, turned out a little different than planned. Here is the explanation directly from our mill for those interested in the knitty gritty details: "We try to source our wool directly from the ranchers that raise the sheep. The wool that went into this yarn was from a new source and was slightly finer than what we usually use, 20.3 micron compared to 21.5. The result was a yarn that is less consistent with more thick and thin places and not as smooth, but it is slightly softer than our usual merino yarns. This yarn is less consistent with more thick and thin areas and not as smooth as our normal medium weight yarn.
