Obey Giant

Hand-painted collectible baseball card In 1987, Topps was producing WWF trading cards in wax packs with bubble gum, and Andre the Giant's stardom was growing beyond his 7'4" 520lb frame. That year, Andre headlined WrestleMania III with Hulk Hogan, and even filled the big screen in The Princess Bride. A couple years later, the Giant became the basis for street artist Shepard Fairey's iconic propaganda artwork. The photo from this card was used to create Fairey's "Andre the Giant has a Posse" sticker campaign, which he brainstormed at the Rhode Island School of Design in 1989. I'm paying homage to the artist with my own artwork.
