2014 Rodarte Black Handmade Openknit Wool & Lamè Crochet Flower Sweater
Rodarte has been recognized by the industry as one of the most successful, and creative design firms of the 21st century having been awarded honors from both CFDA and FGI. Naming the brand after their mother, sisters Kate, and Laura Mulleavy were born in California. The design pair’s influence is rather eclectic, mostly focusing, however, on inspirations, and color stories that would reflect landscapes, and nature. Visually, Rodarte’s Fall 2014 collection alludes to the times of impressionist, and en plein air paintings. Muted tonal colors, and craft textile treatment create a harmoniously textured color scheme. This handmade, openknit sweater is made of black eyelash yarns with eight crocheted flowers of mauve, aubergine, burgundy, white, slate, and cool grey, and cadet blue affixed around the sweater’s neckline. Throughout, patches of matching metallic threads introduce additional depth, and allow for the muted color palette to capture light. This sweater is approximately cardigan
