Mountain Lion II (2024, watercolor) While wolves were persecuted to near-extinction in the Southwest, Mountain Lions or Cougars, shy and reclusive, managed to survive. We see their sign often, though they rarely give us the thrill of direct observation. I used a captive animal at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum near Tucson as my model.
