Initially purchased from a native man named Taro, the estate played a significant role in early coffee cultivation in the region. Today, Ben's son Nicol manages the plantation, which is surrounded by former colonial coffee estates and mountains with smallholder coffee producers.The name ‘Baroida’ comes from the Baroida spirit, believed by locals to reside in a large river rock sitting in one of the main rivers flowing through the estate.
