Genuine ARP Product-Suits all 4AGE Variants-Suitable for 7AFE/7AGE Main bearing cap bolts or studs are critical fasteners designed to secure the main bearing caps to the engine block, holding the crankshaft in place. OEM main bolts are well suited for most NA 4AGE applications. When torque is greatly increased (forced induction), or if the engine will be used often at high rpm, then you will need to upgrade to either ARP bolts or ARP Studs.Main bolts can be used if on a budget, but main studs offer more consistent clamping force and should be the default if the bottom end will be experience extreme loads. With the use of MRP main bolt reinforcement caps, these ARP studs are necessary.
