While they are not as sensitive or delicate as many other shrimp species, nitrate and ammonia free water is still essential for their health. They can be kept in a group in a species only tank or housed with peaceful fish that won't view them as a meal.  If there is not enough food available for them to scavenge, they can be supplemented with special shrimp diets, pellets or high quality flake foods.
