This 6 board chest has an impressive set of hand cut dovetails and retains it’s original “no. 5” decal and “L SC” monogram. The box is fitted with three locks but only two hasps. My brother and I were debating on the boxes original use and believe this was used to transport rifles or munitions. The “L SC” on the sides could be the trade route the box took (ie London to South Carolina) or may just be the owner or commanders initials.
