We are honored to offer you this very special18th Century Chippendale period mahogany oxbow desk regionalized to Connecticut circa 1790. This desk possesses a very rare and interesting case with a hollowed out storage safe behind a fully formed faux drawer facing. This desk appears to have 4 drawers but actually has 3. The desk's interior is very sophisticated as well with a 2 tier amphitheater format, a vast array of block fronted drawers, slide out flanking safes, cubbies, moldings and a sliding door accessing its main safe compartment in its case. The desk retains all its original curicuted brasses, locks ,keys and hinges. The brass is complete , mint & the very highest quality English imported brass backplates, hinges, pulls, eyes & escutcheons of the 18th century. It possesses 2 hand chamfered back panels in native New England white pine fasten with channels & rosehead nails & 3 wonderful original old growth solid plank pine drawer panels showing strong hand tool m
