19th C Antique Boston Mahogany Tilt Top Candlestand W/ Scalloped Top

Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic early 19th century antique Federal Period Mahogany candlestand. A superb piece of Mahogany was used for the top and it has a very wild grain. The top has scalloped edges and the pedestal has an elegant, refined turning pattern with generous proportions. The table has a triple leg base that flares out & curls up at the ends. We’re pretty sure this is a Boston table but have also handled similar examples from surrounding cities like Salem. The legs are dovetailed into the column and have had a few reinforcements done over the years so the table is nice & sturdy. The left batten on the back has an old repair & there’s a small shellac fill on the top and minor surface wear from a placemat that shows up as a light grid panel at certain angles.
