Duncan Phyfe was a master cabinet maker working in New York City and developed an individual neoclassical style with his own original sketches and furniture designs. Duncan Phyfe’s name has become synonymous with his style and you’ll see hundred of pieces being sold as Duncan Phyfe style chairs, Duncan Phyfe style tables etc… If any a pair were worthy of the attribution of being by his hand, it would be these. The carved lion paw feet are very well executed and the saber legs are well balanced demonstrating the cabinet makers understanding of proper proportions & scale. The chairs have a curved seat rail with inset yellow & white seats. The seats are in good condition with a few very lights stains but well within acceptable standards.
