Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic set of 19th century antique Victorian Walnut parlor chairs. Advances in technology during the Victorian era made furniture cheaper to produce and more widely available to families of modest means. The majority of Victorian furniture, while well made, isn’t really worth enough for us to ship around the country. We pass up on so many good Victorian chair & dressers but there was no way we were letting this set go. These were clearly made in a top tier cabinet shop, probably in New York, which was home to some of the most successful cabinet makers of the period including Alexander Roux, John Belter, Thomas Brooks, Herter Brothers, Pottier & Stymus, etc. We’ve handled Roux pieces in the past with very similar carvings on the seat rail, but the crest is more in line with Brooks’ work.
