There were a lot of companies making barrister bookcases at the turn of the 20th century. Globe Wernicke was the biggest producer with patented designs for the stacking elastic bookcase. Years later, Otto Wernicke, former partner of Globe Wernicke separated and began making barristers through his controlling share with the Macy company.
