Antique Empire Crotched Mahogany Jelly Cupboard With Double Doors & Ogee Drawers

This example is among the rarest and most interesting examples we have encountered throughout decades of collecting antiques. Typically, we find antique jelly cupboards constructed from woods found in country settings such as pine and poplar with painted or veneered surfaces used to decorate the case. This example is constructed from a premium grade of mahogany with book-matched crotched mahogany selected to enhance both cabinet doors and upper drawers. The top of the cabinet features three drawers with two matching ogee curved drawers and smaller drawer situated in the center. The drawers are designed to be opened with a concealed notch beneath the drawer housing wide enough to be gripped with a few fingers.
