Antique Mahogany Globe Wernicke 13 Drawer File Cabinet

Bay colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this wonderful early 20th century antique Globe Wernicke 13 drawer file cabinet. This is a Mahogany example which were made in fewer numbers than the Oak ones because Mahogany was more expensive at the time. The Globe File Company was founded in the 1880’s and merged with the Wernicke company to become Globe Wernicke around the turn of the 20th century. The cabinet is signed at the top center with a Globe Wernicke decal. The 11 standard drawers have open backs and retain their original spring tension bars. All but one of the drawers have the original paper Globe Wernicke ledgers pasted on them. These were designed to be used in conjunction with either accounting notebooks or file folders, so they were easy to open and flip through because of the open backs.
