With our highest compliments Bay Colony Antiques takes the utmost pleasure in offering this spectacular early American dropleaf table. This example was constructed during the height of the American Federal design period and embodies the superior craftsmanship and emphasis of quality materials in all aspects of traditional American furniture. We believe that this table was made in the Baltimore Maryland region sometime around the year 1815 with a conservate dating of circa 1810 - 1820. The top of the table is constructed with old growth Santa Domingan mahogany hardwood with brilliant figuring in the grain of the wood and a warmth not found in lesser grades of mahogany lumber. The leaves were constructed with sequential cuts of Mahogany and orientated in a manner where the table is nearly identical from either side.
