The set consists of 2 arm chairs and 6 side chairs. Making these chairs superior than products from Baker, Henkel & Harris, Kittenger, etc is the fact these are indeed antique chairs and not simply nice used furniture. They have well formed saddle shaped seats that are very roomy and comfortable. Triple pieced carved back splats, wonderfully formed Marlborough legs with stretchers connecting them to their rear splayed legs. We honestly can not tell if this was done by the maker on custom order from their original owner or installed later but each middle splat of all the chairs has very high quality steel reinforcements expertly produced by a metal smith at great expense.
