This bed is one of the most spectacular beds that we have ever been able to offer and perhaps the finest example in this design available anywhere. Each of the four massive bed posts were expertly turned and styled by a master wood turner and remain among the most unusual design patterns that we have encountered to date. The turning pattern consists of varying ringlet and baluster vase forms which alter in size throughout the length of the post ending with wonderfully formed acorn tops. This design first took hold in early America in the second half of the 18th century and carried well into the early 19th century as the American Federal movement evolved into the classical period.
