Rare Spectrolite stone nestled in a raw brass setting. Spectrolite comes from only one location, at Ylämaa in south-eastern Finland. It was discovered there while building in 1940 by the son of a Finnish Geologist, Aarne Laitakari. Spectrolite is a hard and rare variety of labradorite - only from Finland. The difference between spectrolite and other labradorites is that Finnish spectrolite labradorite has considerably richer, stronger and larger colourfulness, caused by its opaque base color as other labradorites have transparent base colors.
