Bohemian/ Czech cast glass Tanfouk/ Talhakimt pendant circa 1930's  32" deerskin leather cord (chocolate brown or saddle tan color) Pendant measures 2.25" X 1.5" Tanfouks, also known as Talhakimt, are a traditional shape in Tuareg jewelry dating back centuries. In West Africa, they were believed to have Amuletic properties; The circle symbolized female energy and the triangle represented male energy. The Tanfouk or Talhakimt represented the union of male and female and were considered a type of "Love Charm".  Used as both necklaces and hair ornaments, these particular pieces were created in the glass factories of Czechoslovakia and traded in the Western Sahara in the early 20th Century.
