Chinese Blue Cloisonné Floral Vase Republic Period
nicely-sized and colorful Chinese cloisonné Vase with a classic urn shape. A copper vase has been coated in enamels of many colors and separated by small brass wires. The design is of a rose bush by a rock. The background color is blue and has small wires in a design of clouds. The flowers and leaves show good gradation of color. The back of the vase has a plum branch in flower, and there is a band of ruyi heads at the mouth. The foot is slightly raised with no enamels on the base. The mouth and foot have oxidized to a brown color. The vase has no hallmarks or labels. MEASUREMENTS 5” (12.7 cm) diameter x 8 ½” (21.6 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 5.6 oz (615 g) CONDITION There is one small dent near the prunus blossom on the back. This has resulted in a bit of enamel loss in the area. There are also a few other small enamel losses on leaves and body. There are some white spots at the foot and at the mouth. I see no enamel pitting and the enamels are still quite shiny.
