Chinese Peking Glass Scalloped Edged Bowl Circa 1920
A thick Peking glass bowl with scalloped edges that has that translucent look of pale green jade. The bowl has a rounded shallow foot. The glass is thick, soft and feels smooth to the touch. The word CHINA is etched into the center of the base. MEASUREMENTS 5 ¼” (13.2 cm) diameter x 2 ½” (6.4 cm) tall. Weighs 6 oz (200 g) CONDITION The bowl mouth has several chips on the mouth, as well as four semi-circular wear marks spaced equidistance under the lip. It is possible that there was once a metal rim on the mouth that might have wrapped underneath the rim at those points. There is wear in the central well and on the foot from movement and use. The bowl has manufacture flaws, including black spots and bubbles. It shows authentic age. A bowl that when placed in light has the color and translucence of jade.
