Chinese Qing Phoenix Shallow Bowl 19th Century
A large and shallow antique Chinese blue and white porcelain bowl with a phoenix flying next to a peony bush. The underglaze cobalt decorated porcelain bowl was hand potted and hand painted. The painting has detail and intricacy but it also has a freedom in the brush strokes. There is also some decoration on the back. The foot is rounded, raised and unglazed. It also feels smooth from wear over the years. The glaze feels very smooth and thick, and has pooled on the back. There is a cobalt painted mark, as well as two sets of characters scratched in the base. The marks were probably the owners' names. **Please note that we also have a slightly smaller dish on our site that is very similar.
