A large colorful hand painted oval porcelain bowl with scalloped edged and painted with a central design of a bonsai pot with a fence. The cavetto has panels of peonies and chrysanthemums. The panels are divided by cartouches with fabric like designs. The bowl underside edges are painted with flowers and banners. The cut foot is unglazed. There are no marks or labels. MEASUREMENTS 10” wide x 8 ½” deep x 2 3/8” tall. Weighs 1 lb 9.3 oz (715 g) CONDITION The bowl has no cracks or breaks. It has four small rim chips and wear in the central well. There are kiln flaws, such as pinhole reserves, bumps and cobalt smudges on the underside. A very old Japanese Imari bowl that will add age and substance to your home or collection.
