Provincial Chinese Small Crackle Porcelain Food Pot 19th Century
A hand potted and painted food container with a small crackle glaze and a quick painted decoration. A porcelain hand thrown round jar shape with an unglazed squared cut foot and a cut round glazed mouth. The glaze covering the piece is very soft, thick and has a nice small fine crackle and good glaze control. The glaze stops just above the foot. There is a circular ring near the mouth where a lid would have rested. The jar is decorated with two circular lines and two swoosh like designs done in a brownish underglaze enamel. The base is glazed and the foot has small red iron fire spots. There are no porcelain marks.75 MEASUREMENTS 3 ½” (8.9 cm) tall x 4” (10.2 cm) diameter. Weighs 10.8 oz (310 g) CONDITION There are a few tiny frits at the mouth. There are no chips, breaks, or cracks. An amazing well executed piece of folk art that has a nice shape, feel and look.
