
Victorian Meriden Monogrammed Silverplate Pitcher Late 19th Century
A large, heavy, and shiny pitcher by Meriden Silver Plate Company with a repousse band with birds and berries along the neck. The handle is very elaborate with stylized flowers. There is a monogram with the letters C and M. on one side of the body. The pitcher has a raised foot and a stamped mark on the base that reads MERIDEN B. COMPANY QUADRUPLE PLATE. The number 408 is stamped underneath. MEASUREMENTS 8” (20.3 cm) long x 5 ¾” (14.6 cm) diameter x 9 ¾” (24.8 cm) tall. Weighs 2 lbs. 4.2 oz (1025 g) CONDITION The pitcher has no dents and still has much of its silver. There is a scratch on the body under the spout, a small scratch on the lip and one on the foot. It has light wear throughout and the bottom of the inside has discoloration spots A great pitcher to use for those special occasions. It has a very rich look.
