We here at Beastcandleco recommend you trim the wick to 1/8"-1/4” before each new burn (our wick trimmers can do the job). While the wick burns carbon builds up on the wicks (this is normal). Please understand, if you re-light a wick that has this carbon built up it can cause excess soot and heat (this can look like black smoke and can stick to the sides of the glass or tin).
