Cassini Says Goodbye to Her Friends in the Rings of Saturn

The space probe Cassini launched on October 15, 1997, spent 13 years orbiting Saturn. At the end of the mission, Cassini was intentionally destroyed, driving it into Saturn to prevent potential contamination of Saturn's moons (there are 83) if it were to crash into one of them unintentionally. I painted this picture to the memory of this persistent space machine (worked for 13 years instead of the originally planned four years). It shows its last journey to the atmosphere of Saturn as Cassini says goodbye to her friends, the small moonlets in the rings of Saturn. This picture is a part of a series: In the Rings of Saturn.
