October 1975 saw delivery of the first USAF A-10A and deployment in March 1976. Built specifically for close ground support the pilot is protected by titanium armor while being covered by a bubble canopy giving a commanding view. This plane packs a heavy punch and can stay on scene a long time to deliver its payload. On May 4, 2021 A-10C 78-0618 c/n A10-0238 wearing a new heritage paint scheme was unveiled. The aircraft belonged to the 124th FW/190th FS “Skull Bangers” of the Idaho ANG. The paint scheme is of 405190 with a code 8N representing the first Republic P-47 Thunderbolts used by the 124th FW/405th FS in WW II. This special paint scheme is to honor the unit’s 75th anniversary. The aircraft wears a white nose, D-Day invasion stripes as well as WW II era USAF star and bar with the 8N denoting the 405th FS. This Hobby Master is a replica of an A-10C Thunderbolt II (Bureau Number 78-0618) from the 190th Fighter Squadron, Idaho Air National Guard and is painted in World War II D-Day 75th Anniversary P-47 paint scheme. As with most Hobby Master models this A-10C Thunderbolt II features engraved panel lines, antennas, surface detail, aircrew figure, canopy can be shown in open position, a well-appointed cockpit (with instrumentation details), full weapons complement, optional-position landing gear, authentic squadron markings, and a display stand.
