Shingle Live Oak Twigs | Quercus imbricaria
Product Description: We love curating rich substrates in our botanical method aquariums, and one of our favorite ways is to layer Oak twigs (Quercus sp.) atop a leaf litter bed. These are some of our favorite twigs to use in blackwater and botanical method aquariums. They are smaller than manzanita wood and allow small details to be added to the aquarium. Whether accent pieces in large aquariums or the main aquascaping wood in smaller tanks, these are a great and durable option. These oak twigs are quite intricate, with many branching segments to create areas for your fish to swim through. Some will come encrusted with moss and lichens, which can be pulled off before following the preparation instructions. A familiar species, packed with tannins–we refer to them as a generic tropical as they complement the botanical selection of many habitats. This bag and its contents are biodegradable!
