Slovenia | 100% Gamay | Organic & Low Intervention | Aged 15 Months in French Oak Bright, rebellious, and totally unforgettable. From the volcanic soils of Slovenia's northeast, this single-vineyard Gamay is Peter Gönc’s love letter to the wild side of wine—and a nod to his rock ‘n’ roll spirit. Named after the iconic Def Leppard anthem and dressed in a label that mashes up Flashdance flair with 80s glam, this is Gamay turned all the way up. But don’t let the playful exterior fool you. Grown at 820–1300 feet elevation on soils ranging from sandy to marl, and pruned single-guyot for low yield intensity, this wine is serious in structure and seductively complex. After 15 months in French oak, the result is a bright ruby-colored stunner that leads with ripe cherry, raspberry, and baking spice on the nose. The palate is layered and supple, bursting with blue fruit, smoky mineral tension, a whisper of earth, and silky spice—a perfect interplay of fruit, florals, and flair. This is Gamay reimagined—less Beaujolais, more rock ballad in a wine glass. It’s vibrant and drinkable, but with enough backbone to hold its own at the table or in a cellar. Pair it with roast duck, grilled eggplant, miso-glazed salmon, or fried halloumi. Or just pour a glass, cue up some 80s vinyl, and dance like no one’s watching. Certified organic. Native yeasts. No fining. Low sulfites. And yes—136 dots on the label, honoring Gönc family tradition and the legendary 136L Hungarian barrel from which it takes its name.
