2007 Lecheneaut Morey St. Denis Premier Cru Clos des Ormes

From the heart of Burgundy’s Morey St. Denis comes a Pinot Noir that defies all expectations. Made from 70 year-old vines, the straddles the village AOC and the premier cru Clos de Ormes vineyard. The vineyard sits just off the Route des Grands Crus and very near the Grand Cru vineyards of Clos de la Roche and Charmes-Chambertin. The Lecheneaut brothers coax terroir into their Pinot Noir, no matter what challenges each vintage brings. In 2007, the result was clean flavors of fresh cherry and strawberry, lifted up by aromas of crushed violets and rose with an earthy, mushroomy finish.
