Bear's Saddleback Hex is a very effective Hex nymph pattern. The big, yellow Hexagenia mayflies hatch during the last hour of light in July and August in our area. There's not much more fun than watching big fish roll on HUGE, yellow, emerging Hexagenia mayflies. While waiting for that hatch to take place, try fishing Bear's Saddleback Hex Nymph on a full sinking line in areas of the lake with a silt-covered bottom. Size 6 only.
