“Forbidden Island” was inspired by 2 black and white vintage photos and a shot I took at the Place Of Refuge on the Big Island of Hawaii. A beautiful wahine watches a wooden schooner drop anchor in an idyllic tropical lagoon with a majestic volcanic mountains in the distance. The 2 menacing tikis watch over her and could portent troubled waters ahead for the visiting sailors.
