Crown Staffordshire Penang Orange and Blue Floral Vase. 1974-1979
An eye-catching tale of opposites. With its bold yet timid design, a wide, inflated base yet with a slender short ruffled neck, this adorable fine bone china vase by Crown Staffordshire is a stand out, no matter where placed. Against a bright white background, bold and lively orange flowers dominate the scene amid dramatic and deep blue flowers, while gracefully timid blue and tan ginger jar, vine, and floral detail adds a serene balance. Beautiful. Origin: England: pre-owned Dimensions: 8"H x 6"W (at the base). Condition: Great. There are no chips, cracks, stains, or crazing. The vase is clean, the colors are sharp, and the glaze is smooth. The underside of the vase has a brown spot (used to trim the ruffle) which is not a flaw but a common practice whereby artists tested paint colors by applying a dot to the bottom.
