Aboriginal Australians have used the wood, oil, and seed of the sandalwood tree for thousands of years for its relaxing, calmative, and soothing properties. It is also used in preparation for walkabouts, a rite of passage through which adolescent males seek spiritual transformation by journeying alone into the wilderness. Bio Alchemy Olfactive’s Sandalwood chips are sustainably harvested from naturally fallen deadwood - that is, sandalwood which has naturally died and is collected from the desert floors of Western Australia, where the tree is native. All wood is harvested mindfully and respectfully in compliance with strict quotas and guidelines put in place by the FPC to protect the wild species.  Our supplier participates in a regeneration program that aims to plant 3.5 million new seeds each year in Western Australia, with the goal of easing demand on wild harvested sandalwood trees through new cultivations and ensuring a more sustainable future. They also collaborate with local aboriginal communities, providing training and employment opportunities in the harvesting of the wood.  25g
