Maximize Your Deer Plot Clover For maximum forage growth and plot longevity, soil test annually for fertilizer and lime requirements. Use grass specific herbicides when needed to eliminate grass competition. Mowing clover is advised for broadleaf weed control, only mowing the top 2-3 inches of clover is necessary.
