First Appearance and First Edition, 1840. Entire issues of January - June, 1840. Hardcover with marbled boards and three-quarters red leather binding. 294 pages. Interior hinge cracked, but binding remains firm; rubbed corners and edges; normal age and wear to boards, with some rubbing to marbled paper; chipping to upper spine end; rear blank endpaper has been torn out (one remains, however); foxing to endpapers, with intermittent light foxing and toning to pages; interior is clean and free of markings, save two pen notations to front endpapers. This volume contains the first appearance of "The Journal of Julius Rodman" by Edgar Allan Poe, with a chapter in each of the six monthly issues (January - June, 1840). Burton's Review was edited by William Burton and Edgar Allan Poe, running from 1837 to 1840. P
