Rwanda - Jarama Kivu
Notes of Citrus, Brown Sugar and Golden Raisin Bright, sweet, flavorful... an extremely well structured coffee from the shores of Lake Kivu Bright white grape, Meyer lemon and orange burst out of the first sip of this coffee. That acidity is mellowed by abundant light brown sugar sweetness that tempers the white grape into golden raisin and the citrus into candied citrus peel. The cup finishes with a blend of herbaceous marshmallow-like notes and chocolate, creating the impression of cacao nibs. Producer Notes: This coffee is the product of a producer group we featured in 2022: the “People’s Farm”, in collaboration with Kivubelt. Kivubelt was founded by Furaha Umwizey, a native of Rwanda who studied economics in Switzerland. The two mills they operate serve both the Kivubelt Estate and around 500 smallholder farmers from the surrounding area.
