Shop Notes: When I'm bored in meetings, I think up ice cream recipes.  Truly, it's hard to be unhappy when one is thinking about ice cream and, if Jeni is your guide, the flavor combinations are endlessly fascinating.  I actually lived in Columbus, Ohio when Jeni's opened her first scoop shop in the popular North Market near downtown and it was a rare day when I didn't stop to see what Jeni had going on because her flavors were something I had never seen before (her ylang ylang and fennel ice cream is perfection, btw).  Now, you can make up your own funky flavors at home using this fantastic cookbook as a guide - and what's better is that all recipes were tested using a $50 home ice cream maker (read: these are not commercial recipes pared down to smaller volumes which may or may not scale well).
