Silent Sigh

(SOLD) (36" x 48") - Acrylic Paint on Canvas For this large piece, I had in mind the idea of silence and longing early in the creative process.  Maybe because I have a lot of alone time and I often struggle with wanting something more for my life without ever knowing what that something is. Then I happened to hear the song 'Silent Sigh' by Badly Drawn Boy while I was putting the final touches on the canvas and I nearly fell over.  The words, the sound moved me to stop what I was doing so I could hear the song coming out of the painting.  And it did for me. I found this interpretation of the lyrics on the 'Songtell' website: "'Silent Sigh' portrays a sense of yearning for connection, the difficulty of expressing oneself authentically, and the consequences of suppressing emotions.  It invites listeners to reflect on the importance of open communication and the significance of genuine emotional connection in relationships.
