When you think of Paso Robles, CA, it is generally associated with wine! But, thanks to the founders of Re:Find distillery, the whiskey scene along the California Central Coast is off to a fast start. Having run a winery in the area since 1992 (they have some seriously good wines too, by the way!) Alex and Monica Villicana founded Re:Find with a view to reduce waste from the wine-making process and run a sustainable distillery. Alex, who wears the dual-hats of winemaker and master distiller, always wanted to make whiskey, and convinced Monica into ordering their first German-made still after visits at other craft distilleries inspired them to believe the dream was possible! Like so many other craft distilleries, they truly believe you need to start with good beer to make good whiskey, and they partner with local breweries (most notably Paso Robles’ Firestone Walker Brewing Company) to make their wort (unfermented beer).
