Antique Italian Renaissance Carved Walnut Cassone Chest Window Seat 1850

A good antique 19th century Italian Renaissance Revival carved walnut cassone chest, circa 1850.The chest having a lift up hinged lid with a carved scalloped molding below, the hinged lid enclosing a large storage area, to each corner is an ornately & finely carved grotesque, there another such carved head bracket to the front center of the chest. The carved head is flanked by a pair of carved foliate panels with an oval shaped raised architectural boss, the base of the chest having a curved inward carved skirt, the chest is raised on lion's paw feet.Condition is very good, the storage area is clean & free from aroma & would be great for bedding or clothing storage, it is robust and sturdy and could easily be used as a bench to sit on.
