Red Ryukin Juvenile / Set of three
The Ryukin is a popular and hardy fancy goldfish variety, well-known for its distinctive short, deep bodyand a prominent hump on the backbehind its head. Key Characteristics Appearance: They have a pointed head, a triangular body shape, and can have long or short fins, often with a large, flowing triple or quadruple tail. Size: Ryukin can grow to approximately 8 inches (21 cm) in length, and sometimes up to 10 inches in large aquariums or ponds. Coloration: They come in a wide range of colors, including solid deep-red, red-and-white, white, orange, silver, blue, black, and calico (a mix with black specks). Origin: The Ryukin is Chinese in origin but was named because it arrived in Japan via the Ryukyu Islands in the 1770s. Care Considerations Tank Mates: Ryukin are good, but not strong, swimmers. They should be kept with other slow-moving, fancy goldfish varieties, as fast-swimming, single-tailed types like Comets will outcompete them for food. Diet: They are omnivores.
