Item #315-16 Hohner Marine Band 1896 Key of C/s No Box Included Price: $495.00   Adam Gussow’s Notes: Moderate wear One cover plate squeezed 4 draw very flat Fair/Poor This Hohner Marine Band 1896 is a little unusual.  We don’t normally see harmonicas in the key of C/s, which is another way of putting C#.  In the US, this harmonica would bear the label of the key of Db.  This would seem to indicate that Sonny got this harmonica either directly from Germany or perhaps when he was on tour in Europe.  Regardless, it shows signs of extensive use by Sonny.  The covers are tarnished and slightly crushed.  There is a bit of corrosion/rust were the covers mee the reed plates at the front of the harmonica.  The fact that Adam rates it “Fair/Poor” would seem to indicate that his harp was played until it was played out.
