Drilling accuracy begins with a physical locator instead of just a pencil mark. Even a tiny hole in your workpiece will give the drill bit a center to locate on, rather than scooting off-target when you start. The smaller and more detailed your project, the more important the perfect location becomes. When installing tiny jewelry box hardware, the .125" awl, with its shorter shaft length and needle-like point, provides the control you need for pinpoint accuracy. For larger scale work, the .187" awl brings more reach and a more defined hole. The .187" bird-cage tip will actually drill a hole with a simple twist of your wrist.
