It is sometimes identified as a variety of Bloodstone, which is incorrect. Bloodstone is an entirely different stone, and a member of the Chalcedony family. It is actually mainly composed of 2 colors of Epidote! The more common green, and a bright red variant that gets its coloring from a high Iron content. The patterns are quite intricate! It is much nicer 'in person' than photos can show - I guarantee it!
