The Staurolite crystals are a deep reddish brown, while the surrounding white-ish colored Muscovite Schist matrix has a subtle shimmery/sparkly quality to it that catches the light as you move the stone around in your hands. Staurolite is a red brown to black nesosilicate mineral that is mostly opaque and is commonly found on a base of metamorphic rock.
