"Waking Up in Minneapolis" She’s a little yin, a little yang; a little dark, a little light; a little low, a little bright. It's the first days of 2026, and I live in Minneapolis. She too is a little yin, a little yang. And she’s pretty dark right now. Yin can’t be yin without the yang. Yang can’t be yang without the yin. We are so tightly wound to our side, our opinion, that we are blocking the light from the other side. But I see it. I see people on both sides genuinely believing they are doing what is best for their people and community. And from that, I painted a small collection of Suns & Moons. I painted with deep sadness, and at times, hope. Hope that we can begin to climb out of this and see the sunshine on the other side. This is the first piece I painted and the only one on paper. The result of waking up to some really frightening news in my city and trying to process through it. I found some balance in my own brain as I painted this, and it inspired me to pain
