100% Gamay, Bugey, FR.  The Bugey winemaking region is one of France’s hidden gems. The vineyards are hard to detect, nestled amongst extremely mountainous terrain and steep, winding Alpine roads. Only 420 acres are under vine with an eclectic mix of French varietals cultivated to produce both still and sparkling wines. Maison Angelot has about 70 acres under vine and is producing some delicious, food-friendly wines that are meant to be enjoyed now. Their Gamay, coming from some of the property’s oldest vines, undergoes carbonic maceration resulting in an extremely quaffable red perfect for any occasion.  Light and juicy with ripe cherry, a hint of spice, low acidity, and subtle tannins - try it chilled down! This is the type of wine to open without thought, during a wide variety of occasions and with many types of simple, comfort food (hey, don't most of us eat like that every night?) Gulp it by the bottle, gulp it by the case!
